Mobilitätsverhalten im Wandel

Switzerland is on the way to a challenging energy future. Against this background, the Swiss National Science Foundation launched the two National Research Programmes “Energy Turnaround” and “Managing Energy Consumption” in 2014 on behalf of the Federal Council. The NRPs address various aspects of the transformation of the Swiss energy system. The topic of mobility behaviour is of great importance here because political and legal framework conditions as well as the behaviour of citizens, investors, politicians and consumers will play a decisive role in determining the design of our future mobility system – without them it cannot happen.

The more than 100 individual and joint projects of NRP 70 / NRP 71 have identified a large number of factors that influence mobility behaviour. These can be grouped into five challenges:

  • Motivation and information for changing mobility behaviour
  • Car sharing
  • Increasing the occupancy rate of individual transport
  • Using digital technologies correctly
  • Increasing the energy efficiency of goods transport
